Mebourne airport

airport, originally uploaded by JeanineJeanine.

I’m sitting here in front of a giant window, watching a plane being directed out of the gate by a red, remote controlled vehicle. I am getting very excited about flying home in a few weeks. (I didn’t know they had remote controlled directing vehicles at an airport, did you?) I had cab troubles again this morning. Last night I ordered one to be there at 6am, ten past 6 they called me they couldn’t come…(“????”) But I made it to the airport in time, had to pay for carrying too much money, I mean I had to pay money for carrying too much luggage, but convinced the person behind the counter that I really only want to pay 20 dollars instead of 50. She said “okay”.
I really am sad that I am leaving Melbourne, but, hey. I loved my room. And my neighborhood. But it doesn’t matter. I had a good time here.

Look, it works!!!

luckygirl

Well, I'm leaving Melbourne...

Hmmmmmmmmm. My life needs to get some order. In a few months it will happen. I hope. I have ideas. I hope they work.
Anyway:
- Job search in Melbourne goes slow.
- I moved into my new room last Friday, and was really happy about it.
- I put pictures up the wall, bought a vase and flowers.
- I almost got hit by a car on Saturday. I was in shock and shaking hours after. It was so close… did I mention that I almost got struck by a lightning when I arrived in Sydney in February? Seriously, thank you, my guardian angle!
- I still didn’t have a job today.
- I still didn’t write the x-mas card which should be on their way to Germany a long time ago…
- Pete called (captain of Aurora, the boat I was working on before) and told me he had work for me until the end of January.
- I said yes, I’ll come.
- I fly to Airlie Beach on Thursday.
Thought I will never see that place again in my life. But there we go – you never know…
I am a bit disappointed, actually I am very disappointed, that I cannot stay in Melbourne, I really like it here, I finally found a place in Australia where I wanna stay longer than 2 months, along with Byron Bay, I guess, but money is more important now.
And why not cruise the Whitsunday Islands for another 4 weeks once again? It could be worse, I guess. I hope I will have a bit of fun as well.
My plans for the next two days:
- Maybe buy a suitcase.
- Pack my things (AGAIN????? – I have enough!!! Stop! Somebody give me a home!)
- Buy books because there even isn’t a decent bookshop in Airlie Beach and I hope I will get the chance to read a lot.
- Go to the movies because there also isn’t a movie theatre in Airlie Beach. The next one is one and a half hours away. Great.
- Meet a friend
- Meet another friend, maybe.
- Go and see the Stanley Kubrick exhibition on Federation Square.
- Go and see art from the new trade gallery in London.
- Have a cake in one of the St Kilda Cafes.
- ENJOY MY ROOM!!!
- Do yoga in it.
…. It’s x-mas eve on Saturday, I don’t even know what I will be doing then, work, I guess. I hope I’m not too sad. I’m sad already when I think about it.
Who wants to call me on that sad day???
(in case you’ve forgotten my number: 0061 416 728 951)
Okay, enough whining, I start considering myself lucky now.

the dumbest shopping bag

the dumbest shopping bag, originally uploaded by JeanineJeanine.

I went x-mas shopping the other day and discovered the dumpest shopping bag ever: A picture of a dog with a real pink bow on it??? All I know is that part of the money I spend goes to some safe the dogs charity... or, wait a minute, does it? Should I have bought a safe the dogs plastic wristband? I got to go back.....
This picture was taken in front of a very dirty mirrow...
When I got the bag, I thought: that's something I have to show Jaleen! (maybe you can twist it into that video you're shooting: it's a PINK bow!!! )

City life

I just put a few more photos of my trip with Silvie on this blog - it's only been exactly 2 weeks since she's left to New Zealand, and considering that I managed to :
-apply for jobs in Perth and go to an interview
-meet up with a few friends
-empty and completely clean my car and put it on the market (which means putting it up on notice boards in a few million hostels in Perth and Frementle)
-pack all my things and put everything in two and a half bags
-talk to strangers and half strangers in Melbourne who were so friendly that they convinced me that this is the place I want to be at the moment
-sell my car
-go to the circus
-get fined 100 dollars for talking on the phone whilest driving (I was just talking to Thomas who bought the car 30min after, to find out where he was and where I can meet him to leave the car with him...)
-book my flight
-fly to Melbourne
-go to an interview
-meet up with a friend
-drop off about 50 cv's all over town
-find a place to live
-learn a lesson for life
-learn another lesson for life
-buy birthday and x-mas presents
-meet the person who I'm gonna vote the most impressive person I met in 2005! (Elliot)
-have wonderful Japanese food, which Meg, who visits from Japan, cooked twice!!!
-teach Meg yoga in the morning
-get the chance to discover Melbourne
-send an e-mail I'm glad I sent it
-talk to my mum
-talk to my sister
-talk to my dad
-talk to Janet
-had fun!!!

............hmmmm, what was I about to say? Considering all that, it's no big deal that I don't have a job yet! Right?
Got to go to bed... good night.

Quakker

they look like a rat and move (hop) like a kangaroo - the quakkers. What a name. Rottnest Island was named after them: Rat nest. Whoever came to this island first, thought there were rats everywhere. And these little animals really are everywhere. They are cute. Even if they look like rats. As soon as they start hopping you love them...

In Rottnest Island there are no cars. Just a few busses and lots of bicycles. We hired bikes and cycled around the island. Even though I am not the biggest cycler in this word I really had a great time, especially when we went with the wind...

... time to say good-bye....

Perth- Melbourne

Perth was great, but not the place I wanted to spend the last few weeks in Australia. I wanted to go to Melbourne. That's where I am now! I was almost ready to leave the car behind in Perth, to have Kashy look after it. LAST NIGHT, 12 hours before my plane was leaving, I sold it!!! To 2 German guys, who fell in love with the old faithful lady. They are taking over her name, which I never mention on this blog, because it's too rude, and they loved all abut her! I am so glad the she's in good hands.

I'm welcome very warmly in Melbourne, except that cap driver who insisted on always finding his way, driving around in small streets and dead ends trying to find the place I am staying at. And he wouldn't admit he was totally lost. But he switched the meter off, otherwise it would have cost me at least 200 Dollars...

I am staying with a friend of a friend who I haven't met yet, but he let me get into his flat, that's where I am now, using his wireless, eating his bananas :-) , soon using his shower and lying down for a nap - god bless Australians!

Have a job interview tomorrow, and look at a room. I'm determined to settle as soon as I can!!!

Friday, December 02, 2005

I spend last night in a giant house! How does that feel for a change... lots of walking from kitchen, to the bathroom, to the lounge etc.... Tanja is housesitting in the hills of Perth, with view to the Perth skyline over the trees. It's beautiful.
I'm going to a horserace today. With a friend of Andrew. Scottie. I don't know him yet. Tanja is coming. Scottie promised us lots of Kiwis.

DECISIONS...

......... making decisions, that's what I've been doing. Kept me very busy. How much time in my life do I spend making decisions about my life? Even the easiest things to work out can become the most complicated puzzle sometimes. That's why I believe in feelings about things and fate. Easy solution that is, no?!
