The world is spinning too fast – but it’s fun!

We finally arrived in Perth last Wednesday, and I took a flight to Melbourne that night. After being in the outback so long it was quite a culture shock to go back to my “normal world”. It was overwhelming. An airport. Planes. People – lots! Coffee at 6am. Busses. Buildings. A real city. Great.

And then I met Zoe and Emma and all their stories took me back to San Francisco… pretty confusing all that. It was great to see the two of them, though not long enough.
Melbourne was awesome and I might go back there. Right now I don’t have a clue what is happening the next months. But millions of ideas and possibilities.

At the moment I am spending my last travel week with Silvie. We are in Northcliff today and here I found the answer to my complaints about the world moving too fast for me at the moment: we are staying in a farmhouse homestay tonight and the topic of the conversation at dinner was that kids don’t know anymore where the milk comes from. So here I am in another world again where everything happens slow. And damn, I wanted to make so many phone calls tonight and can’t now because there is certainly no reception or phone box near… but an orange tree in the garden, baby cows – so cute! and people we only understand half of what they are telling us… - someone stopped the world for me again.

We had a little incident on our way to Margaret River on Sunday. I just got back from Melbourne, where I slept about 3 hours in 3 days… and as we were on the highway all of the sudden my lovely old lady car was smoking and smelling funny. I stopped, and called the Road Service. We waited for over an hour. I almost fell asleep. Then the guy came and checked the car. And couldn’t figure out what happened. If Silvie wouldn’t have been with me he would have made me believe that I’ve gone crazy. At some point he asked us what color the smoke was and I just had to laugh and told him it was purple with yellow dots….

Anyway, here we are, a few hundred kilometers later, and all is good.
We had a great time doing wine tasting in Margarete River. I finally got to see all the wineries of which I was consuming quite a few wines since I am here in Australia. It’s so cold again that we can’t camp anymore. Unfortunately, I miss it.
I completely laid the responsibility of where we go next into Silvie’s hands, which is a great feeling. I drive to wherever she tells me. Cool.

Western Australia

We finally arrived at the West coast two days ago! It feels good to be at the sea, feel a fresh breeze. It’s still hot but it’s not unbearable and the nights are perfect! Broome is very nice, the town has little shops and cafes, the beaches are amazing, and cable beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on this planet! We’ve had a very relaxing time here so far, just chilling, last night we went to the “World’s oldest open air cinema” – incredible that there is such a thing like “world oldest” in Australia at all, except nature things…. Which brings me to the dinosaur food prints which you can find here in Broome. I don’t know if that’s a joke or what it is, but I like the idea and will take a look at them this afternoon. Maybe I cast them and take the big dinosaur feet with me as a souvenir….

More news in – about 2 weeks, I guess.
Lots of love from WA
Jeanine and Silvie!
